Data Storage and Security
All data is stored on secure servers using industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. We use reputable cloud infrastructure providers with strict access controls.
Student work images and documents are stored in private cloud storage with no public access. Access to student data is strictly limited to authenticated teachers who own that data.
Data Retention and Deletion
You have full control over your data:
- Clean Up Tools: Remove student work images and AI-generated content while preserving grades
- Class Deletion: Permanently delete entire classes and all associated data
- Account Deletion: Request complete account deletion at any time
When you delete data, it is removed from active systems as part of our deletion workflow. Backup copies, if any, are retained according to infrastructure provider retention windows and expire on their normal cycle.
AI Processing
Our AI grading system uses Google's Gemini models to analyze student work. When processing submissions:
- Data is transmitted securely to AI services solely for grading purposes
- AI providers do not retain your data or use it for training their models
- Transcriptions and AI feedback are stored only in your StackGrader account
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Clerk: Authentication and user management
- Google Cloud (Gemini): AI processing for grading
- Cloud Infrastructure: Secure data storage and hosting
- Stripe: Payment processing (we never see your full card number)
